VIDEO TOUR (Still Dancing)

We compiled these videos from the 400+ dance artists who took part in Dance Rising's Hyper Local Dance Outs in October, December 2020 and June 2021.

We are bringing visibility to our industry.

While our sector is re-opening and while live performance remained on pause.

These videos represent the thousands of NYC dance artists who perform on stages small and large, teach students of all ages, and dedicate their lives to a career in dance. Pausing culture was not just shuttering of theatres but a closure of all forms of training, creation and working for our field.

By partnering with small businesses, cultural institutions, BIDS and empty retail space owners, DANCE RISING is bringing the resilience of dancers to the forefront, as an inspiration, and with a mission.

ACCOMPLISHING OUR GOAL OF VISIBILITY THROUGH COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

DANCE RISING VIDEO TOUR (Still Dancing) Keeping Dance Visible in NYC Edited by Carley Santori Graphics: Carley Santori and André Zachery MUSIC by Alex Feder "Moments of Silence" by gracious permission of the artist. All dance artists listed below In March 2020, the NYC dance world came to a halt. Theaters shut down, and an entire industry that depends on proximity -- rehearsing and teaching in studios, performing on stages and film sets -- found itself isolated and out of work. In Fall 2020, we invited dance artists to step into public spaces to remind themselves and New Yorkers: Dance is a creative force in our city. These videos are a tribute to a year of dancing through quarantine. Videos will be visible as large-scale projections in Astor Place, in LINKNYC Kiosks, on screens and on the social media feed of institutions in all five boros.
